Use AI for Everyday Work
Draft emails, summarize documents, brainstorm, and create useful first drafts.
Before you start
Choose a task whose output you can check yourself. AI is useful for a first draft, but it can invent details. Keep confidential customer records and internal business documents out of an unapproved tool.
Follow these steps
- 1
Choose one small task with a clear result.
- 2
Remove confidential information.
- 3
Tell the AI the goal, audience, tone, and format.
- 4
Review every fact, number, name, and date.
- 5
Edit the result in your own voice before using it.
Examples
Draft a friendly overdue-invoice reminder.
Summarize these meeting notes into decisions and next steps.
Create a one-page résumé outline for a maintenance technician.
Try it yourself
Use fictional meeting notes with two decisions and three tasks. Ask for a table with action, owner, and due date. Check that missing owners and dates remain “not specified” rather than being invented.
If you get stuck
If the output is vague, give the audience, purpose, and format. If it changes a fact, correct it and review the entire result. Follow your employer’s tool and data rules; a personal subscription does not establish permission to upload company material.
